Experts have predicted dooms day for marketers, and publishers ( bloggers, affiliates, news sites, vloggers) who rely heavily on one marketing channel in 2023. For marketers to succeed in 2023, we must heavily invest in marketing channel diversification.

Top 10 Marketing Predictions

SEO

  • Google Discover & E-E-A-T will be more relevant, and more clampdown on blogs and affiliates’ site that does not show E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) characteristics.

  • Google will continue to eat away at news publishers' real estate on the SERPs, and big news sites will continue to lose organic traffic.

  • More penalties and clampdown on AI content, especially with the astronomical rise of ChatGPT.

    Social Media

  • US Government has banned lawmakers from using Tiktok on their official mobile phones due to security reasons. There’s a high probability the ban might be extended to all US residents in 2023.

  • Twitter will push for more monetization initiatives. It has already started with Twitter Blue - which will give more visibility to the blue tick subscribers. We’re predicting Twitter will prioritise feeds for paid subscribers, and overhaul their ads platform for more revenue.

The public display of the “View Count” feature will discourage more tweets from small accounts. Thereby killing more conversations, and prioritizing tweets from large and subscribed accounts in feeds. It’s already happening.

We predict a lot of changes coming to Twitter in 2023.

  • Publishers will continue to prioritize video content on every platform.

  • Meta will test advertising on WhatsApp status.

    Others

  • Google finally sunsetting Universal Analytics for Google Analytics 4 will disrupt the marketing world. Many are yet to migrate fully to GA4, while others who are Universal Analytics experts are still struggling to be proficient in GA4.

  • Google's Search Engine market share will reduce by 10% to other search engines. Especially Bing and other privacy-led search engines. It’s hard to predict whether users will prefer ChatGPT to Google Search to answer a large percentage of queries.

  • Less use for copywriters in 2023. People will depend more on AI to write better copy.

The lesson for all marketers and publishers to invest in other marketing channels to avoid total loss of traffic and revenue.

The Growth Marketer's Handbook

Don’t be mistaken. One person can be a jack of all trades, but they can NOT be the Master of all.

As your marketing career grows, it’s important to choose one or two marketing sub-skills and be excellent in them.

#Marketing or #digitalmarketing as the case may be is too wide to be an absolute master of all.

1. Paid Advertising or Performance Marketing ( Social Media, Google Ads, Digital billboards, etc)
2. SEO
3. Email Marketing
4. Growth Marketing
5. Conversion Rate Optimization
6. Influencer Marketing
7. Brand Marketing
8. Copywriting & Content Marketing
9. Digital Communication
10. Affiliate Marketing
11. etc.

Digital marketing is too wide for anyone to practice every branch of it at the highest level. There’s absolutely nothing wrong in knowing a bit of everything, but we all have biases for one or two of the listed fields.
